Paralympic Cycling has become the third largest sport on the Paralympic programme, and the road events follow a similar format to those in the Olympics. There are events for men and women, including Road Races, Time Trials and a Mixed Team Relay, across a variety of classifications.
The Road Races and Team events consist of a straight final involving all the athletes, while Time Trails are won by the athlete who sets the fastest lap.

Classification:
B - Tandem, for athletes with a visual impairment. A sighted pilot sits at the front, with the athlete at the back.
H1-H4 - Athletes use a hand cycle
T1-T2 - Athletes use a tricycle
C1-C5 - Athletes use a bicycle, often modified

The lower the number in each class, the great the impact the athletes impairment has on their sporting ability.
