Afghanistan make 137-8 in Pakistan Twenty20

Afghanistan overcame a poor start to post a challenging 137-8 against Pakistan at Sharjah stadium in the first-ever Twenty20 international between the two nations on Sunday.

Afghanistan, who won the toss and opted to bat, lost both their openers for just seven in the fifth over before managing to post their highest total against a Test playing nation.

For Afghanistan left-hander Najibullah Zadran top-scored with a 30-ball 38 which included three boundaries and two well-timed sixes before he was bowled by paceman Junaid Khan.

Mirwais Ashraf remained not out for a 22-ball 28 with two fours and a six.

Asghar Stanikzai hit two towering sixes in his 20-ball 15 while Samiullah Shenwari hit a six and a four in his 10-ball 16.

Khan finished with 3-24 while pace partner Sohail Tanvir finished with 2-11 including two maidens.
