Messi - Athlete of the Week

Cristiano Ronaldo has been grabbing the headlines lately with his ‘sadness’ at Real Madrid, and his last-minute game-winning goal in the Champions League against Manchester City.

However, there’s no doubt that Lionel Messi has been a bigger difference-maker in the last week. He’s continued his marvelous goal-scoring form with two goals in La Liga against Getafe and two goals to save Bacelona against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.

Messi’s performances on the pitch have warranted our award for athlete of the week. Only time will tell if he can continue with his stellar form, but for now, he reigns king!

Other notable athletes include Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, who defended his boxing title, and Thierry Henry, who added to his legend by scoring a goal directly from a corner kick.
