Cameroonian top draft prospect Embiid hurt: report
Joel Embiid of the Kansas Jayhawks shoots a free throw during the game against the Iowa State Cyclones at Allen Fieldhouse on January 29, 2014 in Lawrence, Kansas - by Jamie Squire
The 7-footer who blocked 72 shots this past season as a freshman at Kansas University, was being evaluated by doctors with more to be known Friday, according to the report on the network's website.
Arn Tellem, Embiid's agent, said the injury took place in "the last few days" while another source said the African standout might have broken his foot.
The news is a major setback for Embiid and a potential decision changer for several teams ahead of next Thursday's NBA Draft.
Embiid was seen as a potential top overall choice by the Cleveland Cavaliers or falling no worse than to Milwaukee or Philadelphia in the second and third spots, his chief rivals being Duke star Jabari Parker and Kansas teammate Andrew Wiggins.
Embiid missed the last two regular season games and all of the post-season for the Jayhawks due to a lower back stress fracture but was still named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots in 28 games.
