Cards claim NL Central crown

David Freese and Matt Holliday clubbed solo home runs, Yadier Molina went two-for-four with three RBI for the Cardinals who claimed the National League Central crown.
This marks St. Louis' 24th division title in franchise history.
Pitcher Lance Lynn threw six scoreless innings. Lynn struck out nine, did not issue a walk and scattered three singles and a double in the one-sided affair.
The Cardinals, winners of a division that boasts three 90-plus win teams, kept pace with the Atlanta Braves for the best record in the NL with two games remaining in the regular season. Atlanta owns the tiebreaker.
