Athletics: Scott Wong wins first gold for S’pore at 74th Singapore Open

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Scott Wong has won the first gold for Singapore after taking the shot put title at the 74th Singapore Open.

Wong had to battle Japan’s Oyama Hirofumi for the top spot, and the 22 year old did it with a personal best of 15.89 metres at the Bishan Stadium.

The Japanese finished second with a throw of 14.16 metres, while another Singaporean John Tan took third place with a personal best of 11.03 metres.
