
JAPAN: Singapore’s national cheerleading squad are currently in second place after the first day of competition at the Cheerleading Asia International Open Championships in Tokyo.
Team Lions are eight points behind Chinese Taipei, who are leading the hotly—contested international team category.
In third place are defending champions Thailand who are 19.5 points behind the Lions.
Singapore also rank first in the Group Stunts category and third in the Partner Stunts category.
Teams will compete with the same routine on Sunday and their scores will be averaged to determine the final winner.
This is the second time Singapore are sending a national team to the competition.
The team are made up of the "cream of the crop" cheerleaders from four different schools and institutes of higher learning.
