Football: Ajax to face S’pore U—16 in Lion City Cup final

SINGAPORE: At the Lion City Cup youth tournament in Singapore, the AFC Ajax Under—15s and the Singapore Under—16s will play each other in the final, after beating their Manchester City and Vasco Da Gama respectively at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

In the first match, Man City drew first blood —— with Aaron Nemane scoring the opening goal from a tight angle in the 8th minute. They then took a 2—0 lead, courtesy of an Ajax own—goal.

But after the break, Ajax star striker Ezra Walian led the comeback for the Dutch side.

He netted two goals in four minutes to level the match 2—2. Ajax found the net twice more through Abdelhak Nouri and Vaclav Cerny to advance to the final.

In the second semi—final, the Singapore NFA Under—16s beat Brazil’s Vasco da Gama 4—0 with goals from Adam Swandi, Iqram Rifqi and a brace from Mohamad Rashe Rahman.
