SINGAPORE: Johor have beaten the LionsXII 1—0 in the season finale of the Malaysian Super League at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
The local lads had the first chance on goal but Sufian Anwar failed to connect with Juma’at Jantan’s cross from the right flank.
In the 23rd minute, another great opportunity for the LionsXII went amiss after Khairul Amri’s powerful shot was parried to safety by Johor keeper Zamir Selamat.
Four minutes later, the LionsXII paid dearly for missing those earlier chances with Shahrizal Saad scoring for Johor.
That’s just his second goal of the season.
On the half—hour mark, the LionsXII could have levelled the match, but Shaiful Esah’s free kick hit the cross bar.
But the LionsXII still finished second in the league despite the loss.
