SINGAPORE: The Singapore Athletics Association has sent two sprinters to the 2012 London Olympics.
The message to the duo is clear —— achieve a good result and use it as a build—up for the 2015 SEA Games, which Singapore will host.
Dipna Lim—Prasad holds the national record of 14.23 seconds in the 100—metres hurdles.
The 21—year—old will be Singapore’s first female track athlete at the Olympics in 36 years.
"I am going to be doubling my training load. I am training more specifically into hurdles," she said.
"I am doing some sort of hurdles every single day, in terms of hurdle drills or in the gym."
Her colleague, Gary Yeo, has set a target for himself.
The 2011 SEA Games silver medallist in the 100—metres sprint wants to go below 10.46 seconds at London 2012.
The real test for Dipna Lim—Prasad and Gary Yeo will come in three years’ time, when the S$1 billion Singapore Sports Hub will be ready to host the 2015 SEA Games.
The two athletes’ Olympic experience will come in handy as they help Team Singapore win the targeted 7 gold medals in front of the home fans.
