SINGAPORE: Singapore’s swim queen Tao Li does not have a guaranteed spot for the London Olympics.
Tao Li came in first with a timing of 59.23 seconds in the 100 metres butterfly event at the Southeast Asia Swimming Championships on Friday.
But the 22—year—old failed to beat the ’A’ time of 58.7 seconds.
Instead, it was only good enough for a ’B’ time.
This means she will have to depend on the availability of invites handed out by the International Swimming Federation FINA to see if she is going to next month’s Olympics.
It will be released later this month.
"My expectation is a bit higher than this... We were not really prepared for this meet, but I still feel I could go faster than this. My training is much better than this outcome," said Tao Li.
Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Chan Chun Sing was at the Singapore Sports School to watch Tao Li swim.
