Swimming: Two more swimmers for Olympics

SINGAPORE: Swimmers Quah Zheng Wen, 15, and Mylene Ong, 21, have earned invites from the sport’s world body FINA to the July 27 to August 12 London Olympics.
Ong will be taking part in the 100 metres freestyle based on her personal best timing of 55.70 seconds that was clocked at the Singapore National Age Group Championships in March.
Sports Boy of the Year Quah Zheng Wen, who recorded a timing of 4 minutes 21.70 seconds at the same event, will be swimming in the 400 metres individual medley.
They are the latest swimmers to qualify, after Joseph Schooling and Tao Li.
Their inclusion also means Singapore’s athlete delegation stands at 21, pending the Singapore National Olympic Council’s approval. —
