Yachting: Singapore win Race 14 of Clipper round the world race

SINGAPORE: Singapore claimed its first victory, winning Race 14 of the Clipper 11—12 Round the World Yacht Race into Den Helder, the Netherlands.

Visit Finland finished second, while Gold Coast Australia was third.

The three leading teams finished within half an hour of each other.

The race started from Southampton on the south coast of Britain on 31 July 2011.

The route took the crews of the 10 yachts via Madeira, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Geraldton Western Australia, New Zealand, Gold Coast Australia, Singapore, Qingdao in China, California, Panama, New York, Nova Scotia, Derry—Londonderry in Northern Ireland and Den Helder in the Netherlands.

They will return to Southampton on 22 July.
