Dallas Stars forward Peverly collapses on bench
Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley, pictured in San Jose on December 21, 2013, is rushed to a hospital after collapsing on the bench during the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets - by Thearon W. Henderson
The Stars said the 31-year-old Peverley was conscious after being carried by the team's trainers from the players' bench in the first period and then loaded into an ambulance.
"Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and well wishes everybody," the Stars said on their Twitter site on Monday. "Rich Peverley remains conscious and continues to be treated. We will make updates on his condition as they become available."
The Stars did not go into detail about Peverley's medical condition.
The National Hockey League game was halted while the medical staff went to the aid of Peverley. Both teams went to their dressing rooms.
Canada's Peverley was recently diagnosed with having an irregular heartbeat.
The incident took place just over six minutes into the game as the Blue Jackets led 1-0.
