England set 350 to win second Test
Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews plays a shot on the fourth day of the second Test between England and Sri Lanka at Headingley in Leeds, England, on June 23, 2014 - by Paul Ellis
That left England needing to set a new national record if they were to emerge victorious, with their highest fourth-innings total to win a Test the 332 they managed against Australia in 1928/29.
Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews made 169, his Test-best score, with Liam Plunkett taking four for 112 to give the fast bowler nine wickets for the match on his Yorkshire home ground.
The two-match series is level at 0-0 after the first Test at Lord's was drawn last Monday.
