SINGAPORE: Millions of Spanish and Italian fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the big clash between the two countries in the Euro 2012 finals.
The Spanish community in Singapore is all excited about the game, including the Ambassador to Singapore.
An official gathering is being organised at Chijmes, where more than 100 people are expected to gather.
For the more than 1,000—strong community, it will be the third time in five years they will be having such a session.
And it will be another round of painting the town red, if their team defends the title.
Federico Palomera, Spanish Ambassador to Singapore, said: "We are very far away from Kiev but we will try to give our support. Maybe we can shout loud enough for the players to hear in Kiev.
"It is certainly going to be an interesting game, because both teams are very good. Maybe not too many goals, but I would just be happy with one more than Italy."
However, no one can take the joy away from the Italians, with their team being a surprise package for the finals.
Supporters are confident that Italy are a winning outfit.
Football fan Roberto Grilli said: "We have Pirlo, who is a very good player and I believe he can even be one of the men who could win the golden football if he does a very good match tonight. I really believe in Pirlo and I believe in our coach... I hope we will have the best at the end."
Many from the Italian community here will gather around the Robertson Walk area to cheer on their national team.
Statistics favour the Italians as out of the past seven encounters between these two countries, the Italians have won six times. It is left to be seen if the Azzurri can continue that winning record.
