Brazilian Weligton extends Malaga deal
Malaga's Brazilian captain Weligton has extended his contract with the Spanish La Liga side for a further year, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The new deal will take the centre back up until June 2015, with an option for a further two additional years.
Weligton arrived in Malaga when they were in the Second Division for the 2007/2008 season from Swiss outfit Grasshopper, helping them gain promotion to the top flight.
The 34-year-old, who was a key part of the Malaga side that made it to the Champions League quarter-finals last season, has not played since August after breaking his collarbone.
The mid-table team added in a statement that the defender was in the "final phase of recovery and within a few weeks will train again with his teammates".
