Hanover's Ya Konan to undergo ankle op
Hanover 96's Ivory Coast forward Didier Ya Konan faces a lengthy injury absence after his Bundesliga side revealed on Saturday he needs an operation on his left ankle.
The 29-year-old came off at half-time in Friday's 1-1 draw at home to Hertha Berlin after a clash with Nico Schulz and an MRI scan has revealed an operation is necessary for damaged ankle ligaments.
"Of course, for us and for Didier it is a heavy blow, there is no doubt he'll be missed," said Hanover coach Mirko Slomka.
"We wish him all the best and hope he can join us as soon as possible after his rehabilitation."
Ya Konan has scored 37 goals in 115 league matches since joining Hanover 96 from Trondheim in 2009.
