Mainz sign Europa League nemesis de Blasis
Argentinian forward Pablo De Blasis earned himself a move to Bundesliga side Mainz on Sunday after he helped his Greek outfit Asteras Tripolis eliminate them from the Europa League in the preliminary round.
The 26-year-old -- who scored 14 times in his 71 appearances over two seasons with Asteras -- signed a three year contract.
Mainz, who have made a poor start to the season missing out on the Europa League group stage and being knocked out of the German Cup in the first round, also signed Tunisian international striker Sami Allagui on a year long loan from rivals Hertha Berlin with an option to buy him.
Allagui, 28, played for Mainz for two seasons before joining Hertha in 2012 and for whom he scored 15 goals in 53 appearances.
