Rising talent Rogic heads to Melbourne Victory
Talented young Australian Tom Rogic will play for Melbourne Victory while on loan from Celtic FC until May, officials said Monday.
The Socceroos midfielder is expected to play a key part in the club's A-League season as well as its upcoming Asian Champions League campaign, which kicks off with a must-win qualifier in Geelong on Saturday, February 15.
"There has been a lot of interest in Tom's immediate future ahead of the World Cup and we are very pleased that his club, Celtic, has decided that Melbourne Victory is the best fit for him at this stage of his career," said coach Kevin Muscat.
"Tom is a talented young player and we look forward to seeing him grow even further during his time with us, both in our domestic competition as well as the Asian Champions League."
Rogic, 21, played for the Central Coast Mariners before moving to Scottish Premier League giants, Celtic FC. It is hoped he will be available for selection for Melbourne Victory's match against Sydney FC on January 26.
Melbourne Victory also said that 24-year-old midfielder Mitch Nichols will be released by the club and was set to sign for J-League outfit Cerezo Osaka, subject to a medical.
