Sporting Hunt hailed for refusing to accept penalty
Werder Bremen midfielder Aaron Hunt was hailed on Saturday after he refused to accept a penalty kick, telling the referee that he had not been fouled.
The incident happened in the 75th minute of the game against Nuremberg with his side 2-0 ahead.
Hunt fell to the ground inside the area after being challenged by Argentine defender Javier Pinola and the referee awarded a penalty.
But Hunt convinced the official that a foul had not been committed and the penalty decision was overturned.
"Congratulations to Aaron Hunt for having told the referee that it was not a penalty," said Werder coach Robin Dutt.
Earlier in the game, Nuremberg's Japanese international Hiroshi Kiyotake had also made a sporting gesture when he indicated to the referee that a corner awarded to his team should instead be a Werder goal-kick.
