Suarez has been banned for nine international games and suspended for four months after biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini, so 35-year-old Forlan took his place in attack alongside Edinson Cavani at the Maracana.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez made one other change to the team that had beaten Italy 1-0 in Natal on Tuesday, with wide midfielder Maxi Pereira replacing playmaker Nicolas Lodeiro.

Colombia's Argentine coach Jose Pekerman recalled a host of stars, including attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, after rotating his squad in his side's 4-1 win against Japan in Cuiaba on Tuesday.

Striker Jackson Martinez, who scored twice against Japan, was surprisingly selected to play in support of frontman Teofilo Gutierrez, with Victor Ibarbo missing out.
