Former Wallaby skipper Elsom set for Toulon deal

The back-row forward could sign as cover before a permanent deal is penned.

"If the medical is successful, then the player will sign with Toulon," said a club statement.

Elsom, a veteran of 75 internationals between 2005 and 2011, has suffered a series of groin injuries and also undergone shoulder surgery.

His last club action came with the Warathas in Super 15 and in Japan with Kobelco Steelers.

Elsom, 30, has been lined up to replace Stephane Munoz who has been out of action with a fractured orbital lobe since January.

The Australian has played in Europe before, winning the European Cup with Leinster in 2009.
