"Due to the currently difficult weather conditions, with rain and fog, Kranska Gora GS is unfortunately cancelled!" said the International Ski Federation on their Twitter account.

The decision came after the first leg was initially put back by half an hour from its scheduled 0900 GMT start.

Sunday's slalom is still due to go ahead and will be the last event before competitors head for Sochi for the Winter Games, which run from February 7-23.

Kranjska Gora had replaced Maribor for this weekend's leg of the World Cup due to a lack of snow in the latter resort.
