Lotterer to drive for Caterham in Belgian GP
German driver Andre Lotterer in his Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro Hybrid N°2 competes during the 82nd Le Mans 24-hour endurance race, on June 15, 2014 - by Guillaume Souvant
Germany's Lotterer, 32, is "one of the most experienced drivers racing under mixed conditions", Caterham said, and the weather forecast for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit at the weekend is changeable.
Kobayashi will still remain part of the team.
Born in Duisburg, Lotterer moved to Belgium when he was only two and grew up around 150 kilometres (93 miles) from Spa-Francorchamps.
"I am delighted to be given the opportunity to take part in a Formula One race weekend – I want to thank Caterham F1 Team for this chance," Lotterer said.
"I'm ready for this challenge and I cannot wait to jump in the car and make the most out of the weekend ahead."
