El Clasico has in recent years been about both Barcelona versus Real Madrid, and Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo.
The epic clash ended 2-2 on Sunday, but never has the individual battle been in sharper focus. The two premier clubs are still eight points apart, yet their superstars seem neck-to-neck in goalscoring feats and the race for the 2013 FIFA Ballon d'Or.
Political tension aside, Messi and Ronaldo claimed all the headlines by cancelling out each other's brace.
