Despite being a cricket venue steeped in history and tradition, Lord's will open its doors to the sport of archery during London 2012. Cricket has been played at Lord's since the 19th Century and the venue is the home of the famous Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Middlesex County Cricket Club, while England play international Test and One-Day International matches every year at what is widely thought of as the home of cricket. For the Games, 6,500 spectators have the chance to watch each archery session, with the action taking place on part of the pitch. After the event, equipment from the competition will be given to clubs and schools across the United Kingdom.
