The LA Lakers star hit his 30,000th point this week, joining an elite club of four

This week’s individual has been doing it day in, day out for 17 seasons now, but he gets his due honour for finally breaking the hallowed 30,000-point ceiling.

Top high school basketball player, youngest Slam Dunk Contest winner, 5-time NBA champion, most All-Star Game points, twice Olympic gold medallist – you’ve heard of Kobe Bryant accomplishing it all. But his 29 points this week against the New Orleans Hornets (above) elevated him into unique company – only four others have scored more than 30k.

Coming into the game, the 34-year-old only needed 13 points, and NBA’s current scoring leader was always going to get there. Over a career of impossible dunks and turnaround jumpers, he did it relatively simpler this time, driving past Al-Farouq Aminu before dropping it over Robin Lopez.
