No country has embraced a Paralympic Games in the way Great Britain has in 2012, and British fans were rewarded for their support with six truly astonishing gold medal performances by their athletes in a stunning day of sport on Thursday, 6 September “ dubbed '€˜Thriller Thursday'€™ by local media.

The gold rush included medals for Sarah Storey in the road cycling, Josef Craig in the swimming, Helena Lucas in the sailing and Hannah Cockcroft, David Weir and Jonnie Peacock in the athletics.

Peacock'€™s gold came in one of the most anticipated events in the Games -€“ the T44 100m final -€“ and saw the 19-year-old world record-holder beat off stellar competition from the likes of Oscar Pistorius, Alan Oliveira and Jerome Singleton.
