The 33-year-old -- who once served a 70-week ban for gouging an opponent -- suffered the injury during Saturday's 19-16 defeat by Racing-Metro in which he only came on as a replacement in the 66th minute.

"The sentence has landed, I ruptured a bicep tendon, during the match against Racing, operation... really very sad," tweeted Attoub.

Attoub, capped four times, signed for Montpellier in the close season after spending seven seasons with Stade Francais.
