Eric Kelly shows his pedigree as one of the top featherweight submission specialists in the world, while Rafael Nunes suffers his first-ever career loss
Eric Kelly showed why he is revered as a submission specialist when he overcame an immense challenge from Australia's Rob Lisita to win the main event at One FC's "War of Dragons". The Filipino countered Lisita's endless strikes with a plethora of submission attempts and eventually got the job done in the second round with a rear naked choke, forcing his opponent to tap out.
As One FC's first foray into Taiwan, the 11 Jul event also saw Koji Ando deliver Rafael Nunes' first career loss in 11 fights, in an impressive display of Jiu-Jitsu, which led to the Japanese submitting the Brazilian in a rear naked choke within the first round.
In addition, fans witnessed the complete dominance of local Taiwanese fighters in their respective bouts.
Former Canadian Football League player Paul Cheng defeated Egypt's Mahmoud Hassan via verbal submission at the end of the second round, while local mixed martial arts pioneer Sung Ming Yen made light work of Singapore rookie Nicholas Lee with a guillotine choke in the first round.
Jeff Huang came up tops amidst a flurry of action against Bala Shetty of India to win by TKO in round 1, as the former rained down unanswered punches on his opponent with the referee having to stop the fight before more damage was done.
