Ronaldo starts on verge of European record

Cristiano Ronaldo was named among Carlo Ancelotti's starting line-up for Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final, first leg against Borussia Dortmund as he looks to equal Lionel Messi's record of 14 Champions League goals in a season.

The Portuguese already has 13 goals from just seven appearances in the competition this campaign and is joined in attack at the Santiago Bernabeu by Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

Marcelo and Angel di Maria miss out for Madrid due to injury and illness respectively, so Fabio Coentrao and Isco are handed rare starts.

Dortmund are without six first team regulars due to injury and suspension in all, including top scorer Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker's absence means Gabonese international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to start in an unusual position as the central striker.
