Olympic sprint champion Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway was third, 27.4sec behind Shipulin.

Fourcade missed four targets and ended up seventh, more than a minute behind Shipulin, but still stretched his World Cup lead as his closest rival, Norway's Emil Hegle Svendsen, was a long way down the field in 19th.
