Theaux triumphs in Kvitfjell downhill

Theaux's time of 1min 29.1sec gave him the victory by a margin of 0.19sec from home favourite Aksel Lund Svindal, with Klaus Kroell of Austria in third, half a second behind the winner.

Theaux has endured a disappointing season since finishing second in the Super-G at Lake Louise in Canada in November.

This is his first win since claiming the downhill in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, in March 2011.

World downhill champion Svindal's second place leaves him 129 points behind Austria's Marcel Hirscher in the overall World Cup standings.

Svindal is also now 57 points clear of Kroell atop the downhill World Cup standings.
