What fans can expect from a visit to the Real Madrid star’s museum in Madeira

What do you do when you've won so many awards, accolades and medals that a standard trophy cabinet is simply too small? If you are Cristiano Ronaldo, you open your own museum.

The Real Madrid star opened the doors of Museu CR7 in his hometown Funchal, the capital of Madeira, to the public in December 2013.

For five euro, you can get a close-up look at every trophy Ronaldo has ever won, from his two Ballon d'Ors to cups he received aged eight for being top scorer for his local team Andorinha.

It was his brother's idea

The idea for Museu CR7 was hatched by Ronaldo's brother, Hugo. When staying with the star, he noticed trophies scattered all over Ronaldo's Madrid villa and suggested he put them on show for fans.

Life-size effigy

The man himself won't be there to greet you but he's provided the next best thing - and more besides.

A life-size waxwork of Ronaldo stands amongst his trophies. There's also a video wall where visitors can attempt to tackle an interactive Ronaldo.

A life in pictures

In addition to Ronaldo's wealth of trophies, the museum also houses countless photographs of the player charting his early life, his career and his life away from the pitch.

Floor-to-ceiling portraits chronicle his progress from local star, to Manchester United star and Real Madrid Galactico.

Room for more trophies

Ronaldo's December 2013 visit to the museum is played on a loop in the gift shop in which he insists: "I have room for more trophies, but I don't want to mention specific ones".
