Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been banned for nine international games by Fifa for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini, and will therefore miss the rest of the World Cup.

He has also been banned for four months from all football-related activity – including club games and visiting stadiums.

The striker can appeal the ban, but will still not be able to play in Uruguay’s Round of 16 game against Colombia on 28 Jun, even if he does appeal.
